A few
years ago, my good friend Tanya Henauer showed me how to paint using
colored wax and an iron. I was captivated. I dove in, trying out painting
on all sorts of surfaces and staying up way too late. For awhile I
felt like Richard Dreyfus in "Close Encounters of the the Third
Kind"...every time I picked up the iron, I would find myself
painting mountains.
Here
are a few of the pieces I've done. (If you find yourself tempted to
try this at home, one word of caution: don't use a steam iron ---
get a craft iron or an old iron without holes. Also, beeswax is more
pleasant to use than petroleum based crayons.)
Prints
of artwork will be available online soon. Contact
Ellen if you are interested in a specific piece.
